Greg Cooper

Though having lived part of his childhood in Los Angeles and in Canada, Greg Cooper Spencer spent most of his years growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio before moving to New York City.

Having graduated from Cincinnati School of Barbering and Hair Design in 2003, Greg was immediately snapped up by a salon as a Master Barber. A few years later, he moved to an even more high profile salon where he also began to style women’s hair, specializing in coloring, and tending to natural hair. In 2014 Greg and his spouse purchased a home in NewYork City where Greg now practices his profession.

Greg’s eye as an artist has captured many with his elaborate cuts, hair designs and illuminating colors. Greg work has been featured in Jay Z's 'Smile" video, Vanity Fair, Marie Claire, Esquire online and twice at Vogue Magazine online for his hairstyling for women's wear designers Maryam Nassir Zadeh and Maki Oh; he has worked with men & women's designer Philipp Plein, menswear designer LVLXXI, and Miguel Vieira during NYFW: FW17 & SS18. His knowledge of hair has also led him to teach at the Paul Mitchell Academy and to work on the hair teams of Broadway shows such as the Tony Award winning ‘The Color Purple’, the 2018 Tony Award nominated ‘Children of a Lesser God’ and the 2018 Tony Award nominated ‘Summer’ (the Broadway production of the life of Donna Summer). His clients also include such personalities as Tony Award winner and Olivier Award winner director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, 2015 Tony award nominee Max Von Essen, Olympic medalist David Payne, NFL tight end Jermaine Gresham, architect and designer Caleb Anderson, MSNBC news anchor and journalist Craig Melvin, news anchor Curtis Jackson, Grammy Award winning recording artist Dave Hollister, comedian Lavell Crawford, and singing and recording artists Pretty Ricki, and he is currently working with Anthony Elle Williams on this season of Project Runway Allstars. Greg has also been featured at Ebony.com.

But designing hair isn’t enough for Greg. He is also an accomplished photographer whose work has appeared in galleries and ads and has been used for stage sets on runways. He specializes in portrait, fashion, artistic and journalistic photography.

Greg looks forward to continuing to work with creative personalities in exploring new ways of expression.
